EBT Now Works For Grocery Deliveries. See How

Have you wanted to get your groceries delivered, but haven’t even tried because you have an EBT card?

Then keep reading, as we’ll show you how to put that card to work, so you don’t have to shop in stores.

The coronavirus pandemic triggered the need for grocery delivery services. Since social distancing became necessary, many turned to grocery deliveries to get the food they needed without having to be in public and risk catching the coronavirus.

While many see grocery delivery as a luxury, the pandemic showed it could be a necessity. And many stores have responded to this need by accepting EBT (food stamps) for grocery delivery. Let’s take a closer look at how EBT for grocery deliveries works.

Shop With EBT Via Amazon

As you probably know, Amazon.com is a one-stop-shop for almost anything you can think of, including groceries. If you order something from Amazon, it’ll get delivered to your door. And it’s that convenience that has made the online marketplace so popular.

Although many used their debit or credit cards to make Amazon purchases, the online giant recently announced that it’s accepting EBT for eligible items. As you shop through the marketplace, you’ll notice “SNAP EBT eligible” under items you can buy with food stamps. Put the item in your online shopping cart and pay for it with your EBT or P-EBT card, and you can get it shipped to your door without having to hit the store.

It’s worth noting that certain states are not included in this EBT shift. If you live in Alaska, Hawaii, Louisiana, or Montana, you will not be able to use your EBT card on Amazon. That may change in the future, however, so keep an eye out.

Use Food Stamps For Grocery Delivery From Walmart

Although many like making in-person trips to Walmart for their groceries, some prefer its online delivery service. If you’re one of the latter and are an EBT cardholder, you can use those food stamp benefits for online delivery from Walmart.

As is the case with most online delivery services that are now accepting EBT, your food stamp benefits can only cover eligible groceries. Any delivery fees will have to come out of your pocket.

At this moment, Walmart is accepting EBT for online delivery in all states except Arkansas, Alaska, Maine, Montana, and Louisiana. In those states, you can still use your EBT for eligible online orders, but you’ll have to pick them up in person.
